Ascent Technology has been recognised as a Level Two contributor, According to the Broad Based Black Economic Empowerment (BBBEE) Codes of Good Practice, as laid down by the Department of Trade and Industry. The company has also been listed on the National BBBEE Registry.
In keeping with the company’s strong commitment to the elements laid out in the BBBEE scorecard, Ascent has improved its certification from last year’s Level Three ranking. This means that the company has met or exceeded a wide range of scorecard elements which are taken into consideration. Amongst the key elements considered are management control, employment equity, skills development, and socio-economic development.
“There can be little doubt regarding Ascent’s commitment to BBBEE, as we have moved from a Level Four to a Level Three and now achieved a Level Two accreditation, in the space of just three years. While it is always rewarding to receive recognition from the authorities, what this new accreditation really demonstrates is the high level of focus we place on issues like skills development and corporate responsibility. It is certainly a positive reflection on the company and the work it has done in this respect. Naturally, Ascent will not rest on its laurels either, and we will continue to view these issues as critical as we move forward,” says Ascent MD Johan Lamberts.
