Ascent Technology presents at Microsoft Tech-Ed Africa

As the current Microsoft Data Platform Partner of the Year, Ascent Technology has been invited by Microsoft to deliver two presentations at Tech-Ed Africa. South Africa’s premier technology event for IT Professionals and Developers, Tech-Ed Africa, will be staged from 16-19 April 2013 at the Inkosi Albert Luthuli International Convention Centre in Durban.

We are excited to have the opportunity to share our expert knowledge in the Enterprise Database Management space, and will be presenting and discussing the following subjects with delegates:

  • Architecting HA and DR Solutions for LOB Applications using SQL Server Features
    Wednesday 17 April, 14:30 to 15:30 – Session Room 5 (240 seats)
    We will be discussing complex HA and DR designs for LOB Applications like SAP. Attendees will learn best practices for architecting HA and DR solutions in order to prepare customers for moving to the cloud. They will learn where and when to use features like AlwaysOn, Mirroring, Clustering, SAN Replication and GeoClusters. Best practices for deploying a HA and DR solution using the previously mentioned will be discussed. Design HA and DR solutions for performance will also be discussed, which includes the impact of improper SAN design, how SAN replication can impact your solutions performance, and the impact of virtual and physical servers in automation of DR.Speaker: Danie Loots
  • Ultimate Private Cloud – Perfect Together: SQL Server 2012, Windows Server 2012 and System Center
    Thursday 18 April, 14:30 to 15:30 – Session Room 3 (300 seats)
    Come to this session to see how newly released technologies in SQL Server 2012, Windows Server 2012, and System Center 2012 SP1 work together to enable customers to run demanding SQL server workloads, consolidate sprawl, and reduce costs. We will go over key data platform scenarios, benefits, and latest Best Practices of running a Windows Server 2012 based private cloud. In this session, you will also see the latest Best Practices for running SQL Server in a virtualized / consolidation datacenter environment.Speaker: Danie Loots
